At
6,088 yards from the back tees, Holden Hills is a test of accuracy and
course management. It's always nice to play a course that does
not demand length off the tee. However, our course does not
yield low scores easily. Two of the three par fives measure
under 500 yards, yet in each case, sometimes the best chance for
birdie comes from laying up and setting up a simple third shot.
Dangers lurk for the over-aggressive. The other par 5 measures
over 600 yards. The way to score well at Holden Hills is to keep
the tee shot in play and set up simple approaches, as the greens are
mostly small. Long drives don't earn much of a reward on most of
the holes.
